Dr Barbara Crump

From GED to PHD

I have spent my entire life wondering why fear was so prevalent in me; I am still trying to discover why. Despite all my years spent pursuing an education, I am still learning about the things in life that can make me a better person and I want other people to know that they should never stop learning. My

book is part of my personal learning process. It is helping me to pull everything, good and bad, out of my subconscious. It is helping me to be more secure within myself and, most importantly, as I write my story, I am learning to love myself. This is my journey.

This is truly an encouraging book about a woman who grew up in poverty and was only a teenager and a high school dropout when she became a mom. Despite her circumstances, she defied the odds, left an abusive marriage, met the man who would support her through her life, and worked to get her PhD.
The author does a great job expressing how she was feeling even in her dark times, and yet she remains optimistic and grateful for her life. I’d recommend this book to anyone who needs a little encouragement in their life.

Barbara Crump's "From GED to PhD" is a profoundly moving memoir that captivated me from start to finish. The author's journey from a timid girl to academic triumph is both inspiring and motivational. The engaging storytelling skillfully unveils her past, instilling courage in readers facing similar challenges. The book's impactful narrative is enhanced by its flawless organization, commendable editing, and insightful perspective on the role of families in personal development. I loved this book.

I love that Crump is startlingly honest about the setbacks, struggles, and crises of faith on her path to success. Her willingness to lay bare her vulnerabilities enabled me to deeply empathize with and connect with her story. Through the lens of her experience as a teen parent, Crump sheds light on how early motherhood impacts generations by disrupting one's education and life trajectory. I also appreciate the effort that went into editing this book, as I did not encounter any errors while reading it.
